“A simple way to support survivors of sexual violence on California campuses | Opinion”
We should amend California Code, Education Code - EDC § 66281.8 to allow for students to have access to both a support person AND an advisor throughout Title IX proceedings, rather than forcing students to choose between legal advice and emotional support.
David is the co-director of Stanford Law’s Campus Survivors Pro Bono Project, which aims to provide free legal representation for survivors at universities at any stage of the Title IX process.
“Partial support isn’t enough. Student survivors deserve an advisor to fight for them and an advocate to stand with them. It is time for the law to let them have both.”
